2nd Sneech Video (Alpha 009)

Posted by SneechMeister on Jul 30, 2009 in Videos and Media

Latest alpha version of Sneech, running on windows.

This time I’m using Fraps to record the game, the quality of the RAW recordings are really cool, but I’m having trouble finding a codec that will keep the video quality. All the colour is washed out, and it’s a little bit blotchy. but It’s getting better! :)

I was controlling the RED snake. I got some early kills in! I didn’t last to the end but I won on points, yay! :)

This video shows off the new camera zoom feature, and a bigger arena which is not really viable on an iPhone. The doors are also opened near the end but the camera is zoomed in a bit too much to see them. I had set the game to “exaggerated camera” for the video, which was perhaps a bad idea. It looks fun though!

Looking great, that’s some nice work there. Can’t wait for you to get to beta :D

Haven’t seen any viral infections yet – hope that’s still in.

I think I remember it being a pickup which was OK, but how about…
Having food that’s about to expire go ‘off’ altering it’s effect. Length pills may give more or less length than usual (poss. linked to how ‘off’ they are) and then intorducing a chance of them causing the infection.

Yes, the Virus was one of the funniest things ever, and will make its way back into the game at some stage. It probably wont be in the first release, as I don’t want to bombard people with strange features until I can get a good in-game manual going, and hints system going which will explain the rules/features gently.

I do like the idea of the power-up pills going off over time; kind of like radioactivity (breaking down into other materials.) In general “Human” players tend to pick all the good stuff up, even if they don’t need it (growing too big or too fast!) So, perhaps the two lesser value items like the slow-down pill, and the new ‘shrinker pill’, would be more likely to be left unused. They could eventually disintegrate or change into something nasty (as you suggest.)

Maybe they could start glowing progressively more green to warn you that they will turn into a virus if not eaten soon… that way, players are encouraged to collect them to avoid the possibility of viruses.
